Lecture ‘A Careless Constructed Machine of Violence. Polycrisis, Technorationality and AI-Based Warfare’

On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, I will be lecturing in Vienna at the Austrian Academy of Sciences at the symposium Agentic AI in Hybrid Societies – Power, Conflict and Democratic Futures. The title of my presentation is: ‘A Careless Constructed Machine of Violence. Polycrisis, Technorationality and AI-Based Warfare’.

The lecture will analyse the development, epistemic logic and materiality of AI-based warfare, as well as its consequences, using examples from the US ‘War on Terror’ and the Gaza War. Secondly, it will discuss Europe’s high-tech AI military build-up in response not only to Russia’s war against Ukraine, but also to the changing, multipolar world and its accelerating polycrisis.
